In Brief
DePINed Podcast is your front-row seat to the builders, thinkers, and founders reshaping our physical world through decentralized infrastructure. Each episode explores how crypto incentives and community-powered networks are transforming industries — from connectivity and storage to robotics and mobility.
Thу new episode was recorded at the heart of the industry’s event — DePIN Day Denver 2025.
In this 45th episode, host Tom Trowbridge, Co-Founder & CEO of Fluence, welcomes back Mike Horton, the founder of GEODNET, for his second appearance on the show. And it’s no surprise: GEODNET’s growth over the past year has been phenomenal.
From Zero to Global RTK Coverage
GEODNET is a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) delivering centimeter-level GPS accuracy through a crowdsourced global network of satellite base stations. These stations mine GNSS (global navigation satellite system) signals and feed real-time corrections that dramatically outperform traditional GPS accuracy — going from meter-level precision to mere centimeters.
This level of accuracy is critical for autonomous machines like drones, robots, and agricultural equipment. And unlike traditional centralized solutions, GEODNET didn’t spend years deploying its own infrastructure. Instead, the community did — thanks to crypto incentives.
Today, GEODNET operates the largest precise positioning network in the world, with nearly 14,000 registered stations and about 12,000 active, outperforming competitors like Trimble and Hexagon by more than double.
Revenue, Adoption, and Tokenomics
While many DePIN projects are still proving out their business models, GEODNET has already hit over $3M in ARR, with major clients like DroneDeploy and Septentrio, and wide adoption across agriculture, construction, surveying, and even wholesale augmentation providers.
To support sustainable growth, GEODNET employs a robust token economy:
• 80% of network revenue is used to buy and burn tokens, reducing supply and aligning incentives.
• New GIP proposals are being introduced to reward high-performance nodes and improve SLAs.
• A strong focus on transparency allows enterprise users to audit network performance in real time.
As Tom notes, this on-chain transparency and token burn model sets GEODNET apart in Web3 and signals true market validation.
DePIN at Scale — What’s Next?
With strong coverage across the US, Europe, and India, GEODNET is now targeting South America and Africa through programs like Stake Superhex, which incentivize deployment in underrepresented regions.
The company is also preparing for a major leap into robotics, with upcoming announcements promising to unlock new applications for robotic lawnmowers, drones, humanoids, and beyond.
GEODNET is a textbook case of what a DePIN project should aspire to be:
✅ Delivering superior performance
✅ Beating centralized competitors on price and scale
✅ Creating real economic value for both users and node operators
“It’s not just a better network — it’s a more scalable, community-driven way to build infrastructure for a robotic future.” — Tom Trowbridge
